CSS3 fonts for the web and much (expect severe delays)
One of the most frustrating things as a hired geek doing sites is the limit of fonts available for use on the web. Recent initiatives from developers (sIFR beta 3) to aid in the reduction of generic web fonts for headlines. But no one has really done anything for site wide un-web safe fonts. The W3C’s working draft for CSS3 has some examples of font matching available for browsing.
Currently it seems IE 4 is the only browser to support(please correct me if I am wrong). The W3C has great intentions but like any bureaucratic endeavor CSS3 will require much paperwork/revisions/coffee as it carries enormous changes.

Over 7 years later, and we’re still waiting. This begs the question, what went wrong?
I agree, when will see something done? If they don’t get up soon enough we might be forced into some serious javascript work arounds involving and extended version of something sIFR-like.
